FINEST CALL PREMIUM MIXES not only came back on board as a major sponsor for the most prestigious bartending event in the world, but it is thanks to Finest Call that the 2009 Legends of Bartending happened. With today's economy, as we all know, cutbacks are being made in many companies all around the country. These cutbacks have been felt tremendously in the world of flair bartending. With other major sponsors pulling out this year Finest Call came to the table with the funding that allowed us to put on what could have been the best Legends ever!!!
CONGRATULATIONS RODRIGO DELPECH!!!!
In true Delpech form and despite not having the exhibition flair round that we have grown accustomed to from him, Rodrigo rose above the rest and once where it counted and again took home the LEGENDS Grand Champion Trophy, $10,000 and the coveted title of World's Greatest Bartender!!
Winning three of the four rounds in the finals Rodrigo won this presitgious event in true LEGENDS fashion. Taking home top honors in the Speed Round, the Pour-test Round and the Working Flair Round combined with an Exhibition Flair round that wasn't the best we have seen from him, but still better than most, added up to enough points to squeek past LEGENDS runner-up Danilo Oribe. With almost 1200 total points accumulated by each of these competitors, less than 8 points separated them due largely to one of the best Exhibition Flair rounds ever performed on the LEGENDS stage! Danilo was nearly flawless, with zero drops and only two spills, banging out trick after unbelievable trick, as smoothly as they could possibly be performed. Highlighting Oribe's round was a four-bottle sequence using four Finest Call Bottles in a juggle that ended with a big Finest Call Stall!!! It truly was an amazing round!
Following the trophy presentation, Rodrigo, following in the footsteps of his elder brother and 4-time LEGENDS Champion, Christian, announced his retirement from LEGENDS. I guess four times truly is a charm for the Delpech brothers.
