RULES FOR LEGENDS XII: March 7-9, 2010

  1. Any violation of any of rules or guidelines may result in expulsion from competition.

  2. Any acts in violation of the FBA code of conduct or that display low integrity or poor taste is subject to disqualification from the event or even complete expulsion from the FBA.

  3. Entry Fees are non-refundable.

  4. You will see several "fees" listed below for non-compliance of certain rules. These "fees" have been put in place because these particular rules are very important to follow to keep the event running smoothly and in the past some competitors have exploited them causing delays and disruptions in the events. We feel that deducting points from the competitor could alter the competition results, and nobody wants to win/lose like that. The only other option we have that has any value is a monetary one. We sincerely hope we do not need to collect any penalty fee from anyone.

  5. All competing bartenders MUST attend REGISTRATION Sunday evening. (see ITINERARY for times and location). Any competitor that shows up after registration is closed (7:30pm) may be removed from the competitor list or may be subject to a late registration penalty of $100.

  6. All competitors MUST bring their music with them to the REGISTRATION on Sunday evening. Music must be in CD format and in its own case, properly labeled with your name and track number. It is recommended that you BRING MORE THAN ONE COPY with you in case it is damaged or not readable. Event staff is not responsible for damaged or unreadable music. MP3 format may not be usable and is not recommended. If you fail to bring music to registration on Sunday evening, we will select music for you. Bringing your music or changing discs after registration (Sunday) will be subject to a "late music filing" penalty fee of $50.

  7. On Qualifying day, all bartenders must arrive at the event 1 hour prior to their scheduled block start time for the competitor briefing. Any bartender that is not on time for scheduled rounds may be subject to disqualification or a "late arrival" penalty fee of $50.

  8. Flairing will be permitted & performed in designated areas only. Any bartenders that are found flairing outside of said areas will be subject to disqualification.

  9. Competitors will not be allowed to wear the logos of any competing companies to the sponsors of the event. The sponsors pay a good amount of money and we will show them the loyalty and respect they deserve. Please remember without the sponsors there would be no events. Competitors MAY wear logos of their own companies or bars if they are sponsoring them to be there.

  10. Any free flowing unaltered and not knocked down pour spout will be allowed in flair rounds and pour round. The Speed rounds must use the Spill Stop #285-50.

  11. Pour Spouts may have 1 stripe of tape around the neck to hold them in place.

  12. The venue has a dress code and they will be enforcing it during the finals. There are no specific dress code requirements for Qualifiers, but please keep in mind that you are representing our sport.  Please be look respectable at all times.

  13. Any cocktail that is listed as chilled and strained, may not contain ANY ice CUBES. Ice shavings are not considered cubes. The determination of what is a cube is up to the descretion of that round's judges. This will fall under the EXTRA INGREDIENT penalty.

  14. Bartenders may use their own tins in all rounds except the pour-test round.

  15. Bartenders may use their own bottles in all rounds. Bartenders must use the same type of liquor as stated in the rules. Bartenders may use a different brand (other than the sponsors).  For example, if we are using Ron Matusalem as the rum for speed and the competitor would like to use Bacardi they may.  All bottles must be in their original packing with their original labels.  If bartenders are going to use their own bottles in the Speed and Pour-test rounds, they must have them with them when they come to the bar and the bottles must already be set to the proper levels for the round. Not being ready for your round could result in disqualification.

  16. Bartenders may use either an ice scoop, a large tin, or a small cheater tin to scoop ice in ALL rounds. Bartenders must use the type of ice scoop provided for speed rounds (as listed in the PRODUCT LIST), but may use their own scoop for their flair rounds.

  17. In the Speed and Working Flair Rounds, the only object that may begin or end up in the working ice bin are ice scoops. Anything else left in the ice at the end of the round will fall under the UNSANITARY PROCEDURE penalty, this includes tins that have been used to scoop ice.

  18. No fire tricks of any kind will be permitted.

  19. All LEGENDS Finalists MUST be on time for Grand Finals Introductions. Any competitor not on time for the Introductions will be either subject to disqualification or be required to pay a "late arrival fee" of $500.

  20. All Finalists MUST attempt 3 separate and unique Finest Call Stalls in the FINALS EXHIBITION FLAIR ROUND ONLY. Anyone not attempting at least 3 Finest Call Stalls will be penalized 50 points. Also, competitors will be scored 1-10 on their Finest Call stall. These points will be added to the competitors overall score as a bonus. The top score will be given a Finest Call Stall Champion Trophy and a cash prize. Prizes awarded to the top 3 Stalls.

APPEALS BOARD
ANY issues that any competitor may have with any judges decision must be brought to the attention of either Jim Allison or Ken Hall. NO competitor will take ANY issues up with any judges at any time during the event. Judges are on the clock with every competitor as the event will be on a tight schedule and can not be put behind because of controversy. All issues will be resolved through Jim, Ken or the Appeals Board. This will be a panel made up of Jim, Ken & Mike McLean, as well as other Legends judges. The Appeals Board's decision is final.

APPEALS PROCESS
If any competitor has an issue with a judges decision, then they will bring this issue to the attention of Jim or Ken. At this point, Jim and/or Ken can make a decision or take the issue to the appeals board. If the issue is taken to the appeals board, the competitor will get a chance to state their case to the entire board, then the board will vote. A majority decision is final. Not all decisions will require the appeals board as determined by Jim or Ken.
